Eleemosynary

The Department of Theatre at A&M Commerce asked me to design posters for the 2018/2019 season of productions. This is the solution for the first of the four productions in the season.

Eleemosynary focuses on the delicate relationship of three singular women: the grandmother, Dorothea, who has sought to assert her independence through strong-willed eccentricity; her brilliant daughter, Artie (Artemis), who has fled the stifling domination of her mother; and Artie’s daughter, Echo, a child of exceptional intellect—and sensitivity — whom Artie has abandoned to an upbringing by Dorothea. The fragmented vignettes of the lives of the three women as they struggle to define themselves, both as individuals and as part of a family unit. In this poignant and mature study of familial relationships, Blessing highlights the human need for connection and forgiveness.
